Hand surgery

Hand surgery focuses on the treatment of functionally and mechanically significant problems in the palm, fingers and wrist. These include nerve compression syndromes, degenerative and inflammatory diseases, deformities and post-operative or traumatic conditions. At Galeria Medical Center, we use modern surgical techniques, including minimally invasive approaches, which allow for gentle treatment, rapid healing and minimal restrictions in everyday life. In addition to minor procedures such as the removal of ganglia or fibromas, we also perform more complex procedures – for example, endoscopic treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, treatment of trigger finger, Dupuytren's contracture or inflammation of the thumb tendons. The goal is to maintain or restore full functionality of the hand and allow the patient to return to daily activities without pain or restrictions.
What do we operate on most often?
We focus on surgical solutions to the most common hand problems that affect sensitivity, mobility and grip strength. Thanks to accurate diagnostics and modern procedures, we can effectively solve problems that limit the patient in the long term.
Carpal tunnel syndrome
The most common type of hand syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve in the wrist area. It is characterized by tingling in the fingers (especially the thumb, index and middle fingers), night pain, limited range of motion and stiffness.
Contact usDiagnostics
The diagnosis is determined clinically and confirmed by an EMG (electromyography) test, which measures the speed of nerve conduction.
Therapy
In the early stages, we apply splinting and medication. In case of persistent problems, we choose endoscopic surgery to relieve the pressure on the nerve. The advantage is minimal scarring, rapid healing and return to normal activity.
Sticky finger
This disease affects the tendons of the hand and causes a typical "click" when moving the finger. In more severe cases, it can become blocked.
Contact usDiagnostics
The symptoms are very characteristic for the diagnosis – pain, limited movement and mechanical skipping. The diagnosis is made by clinical examination.
Therapy
Milder forms are treated conservatively – by administering medication and immobilization. In case of persistent problems, surgery is indicated, during which the affected loop is surgically released.
Dupuytren's contracture
This is a disease of the fibrous disc in the palm of the hand, which causes tissue thickening, the formation of stripes, and the gradual drawing of the fingers into the palm.
Contact usDiagnostics
The disease is recognized during clinical examination based on stiff swelling and limited ability to fully extend the fingers, most often the little finger and ring finger.
Therapy
If the contracture already limits the mobility of the finger, surgical treatment is indicated. The goal of the procedure is to release and straighten the affected finger.
de Quervain's disease
Inflammation of the tendons and their sheaths on the thumb side of the wrist leads to tissue thickening and painful restriction of thumb movement, often with repeated strain.
Contact usDiagnostics
Typical is a localized painful swelling on the thumb side of the wrist that worsens with thumb movement and wrist flexion. Diagnosis is clinical.
Therapy
We first approach conservative therapy – splinting, weight restriction and medication. If this does not help, we recommend surgical release of the swollen tendon loop.
